About Hills House Interiors

Hills House Interiors is an interior design studio based in Arana Hills in Brisbane’s North-West and headed by me – Kaye Edmiston. I’ve worked in various roles over my interior design career, which began in 2005. Most recently, I spent 14 years as designer with iconic Brisbane home storage designers, Organised Interiors. I certainly learnt a thing or two about maximising space, and designing intuitively. Early in my design career I worked in bathroom and kitchen design. It was here that I honed a strong ability to really listen to my clients, taking them through a great process to help define their real needs, understand their style and then work to create a functional and stylish end result.

Interior Design Advice

Need a fresh set of eyes? I offer a half-day interior design consultation service for clients across Brisbane and beyond. Over about 4 hours, we work through your plans and ideas, and I offer the best advice possible to help you move your project forward.

How it works

Once you book your day, we will organise a time to chat and determine a clear goal for the day a week prior to your appointment. Once the goal has been established, I can prepare and gather samples suitable for your project.

Full Service Interior Design

Good interior design involves taking great ideas; creating a tangible plan from those ideas, and going about implementing it too! I offer a fully customised and personalised interior design service to get an end result you are ecstatic about. Here’s how my process works.

  1. Professional Consultation. The first part of the design process involves understanding the bones of the home, your lifestyle, the way you live, and what you want to achieve in your space. It is impossible to make great choices without diving deep into these aspects. During our consultation, we determine the priorities, needs and desires that will impact the scope of your design. It’s also here where we determine whether we’re going to be a great fit for each other. This consultation usually takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and is conducted in your home.
  2. Brief and estimation. Once I have a thorough understanding of your space and your needs, I provide you with a design brief, which outlines everything you’d like me to do for you. This includes probable timings involved, and an estimate of the cost to complete this for you.
  3. Concept development. On acceptance, I go about creating a concept for the design. This stage is all about taking ideas into the tangible, planning stage. This includes functional and aesthetic aspects such as a mood board and floor plans as required.
  4. Project management and execution. This is where the fun begins! After the planning stage, I work to ensure the project is implemented seamlessly. I efficiently manage a project to co-ordinate trades and ensure a smooth stress free process for you.
